Founder, WebbyCity

10+ years at AWS building data centres, CloudFront edge locations and EC2 infrastructure

Nir Wijewardane founded WebbyCity, the company behind Provider.lk, in 2009 and led it through its first phase of growth. He later stepped away to join Amazon Web Services, where over nearly 11 years he ran data center operations in Singapore, helped build more than 200 CloudFront edge locations as a Systems Engineer in Dublin, and, as a Senior System Development Lead, provisioned compute capacity for the EC2 control plane and led the replacement of a decade of legacy systems. He returned in 2025 to lead a full revamp of WebbyCity, reinventing Provider.lk’s service standards around engineering, automation and a proactive, customer-first approach to support. He also co-founded Maxa Cloud in Dublin, and holds a First Class Honours BSc in Network Computing from Oxford Brookes University.
